I've always thought this. If it wasn't for having to placate racist psychotic Miami Cubans, who just want Cuba to suffer because their grandparents pushed the poor and minorities of Batista's Cuba to revolution making them have to flee, Cuba would have gradually absorbed American culture and economics decades ago. They don't want Cuba to change via economic/cultural soft power. They want Cuba back via the sword and to get their family plantations back and to put the filthy poors/minorities back in their place. This pointless embargo, counterproductively, seems to have only cemented communism on the island. Stop giving a shit about Miami Cuban votes and end the embargo.

Until we ditch the Electoral College, and certain States no longer have massively more political influence than others, disproportionate to their population, it won't happen.

That, or Florida no longer becomes a swing state.

With the way Florida has been trending further and further right, the latter is much more likely these days.

Florida appearing to become dark red in recent cycles would also mean we can detach Cuba policy from trying to appeal to these voters.

A deep right Florida will suddenly be disgusted at the Hispanics among them

How delusional does someone have to be to keep this dream alive?
