The Cartels would be signing their own death warrant. In the early 90's(?) a Cartel tortured to death a DEA agent, they were wiped out not only by US law enforcement but other Cartels as they knew what NOT to do. And were more than willing to show they had nothing to do with the murder.

Now imagine if they even took a shot at say Biden, or any US Military force.

So what you're saying is that somewhere in Mexico, right now, members of several cartels are thinking hard how to do a false flag operation and get away with it?
