Right wing Congress tried to impeach him without a criminal charge. They effectively deposed a popularly elected president they objected to.

They didn't need a criminal charge because Impeachment doesn't require a crime. And they didn't have the votes for the impeachment until he tried the coup and then he was overwhelmingly voted out

She shouldn't need to - it's Castillo's fault he was a particularly stupid kind of authoritarian and tried to pull off a coup, not hers. But if that's what's needed to end the violence...
