I wonder what she really was. Was she actually a siren? Or another species of merfolk?

Somewhat surprising for how much she risked though. If she had stayed in that boat, she could have been captured by the crew.

Also still odd how they all died. Only reason I can think you lived was that water sealed the bottom of the bathroom door and some kind of gas got released into the main area that killed everyone. You may had suffered the same fate if you weren't in the bathroom or even if the plane didn't break apart. Otherwise there's nothing I can think of that would cause death to everyone but you. If it was impact then you definitely would have died.

I also just had an idea. A somewhat shark (or other sea creature) virus similar to vampirism. Basically where a person gets bit by something and they slowly turn into what was seen here. Maybe it's a form of adaptation to help a person survive in the sea.

Most likely because the landing was so abrupt everyone fainted from the change in pressure, and by the time they woke up they were already drowned by the rapid wave of water inside. Since OP was in the bathroom, water got in less fast and with less pressure, so he had those extra seconds to wake up?

I don't think they would have drowned, especially with the life preservers on them. It was only waist deep it sounds like at first. Like maybe it could have drowned a couple close to where the water was entering but not everyone there. I could see pressure knocking them out but not killing them

Pressure is a bitch and it's possible the water was deeper before op woke up. The seatbelts still on is a sign that it all happened very fast.
