I know someone with similar symptoms to Cas. If they have the same illness, Cas can do very well on medications and live a normal lifespan. Maybe have him look into ccr4 defect and the Berlin patient. The person I know was diagnosed 15 years ago and thanks to medication the disease has been undetectable in his body for 14 of them (took a bit to get the right medication cocktail). Just be careful if Cas is bleeding.

I'm confident it's the same illness. I hope the medication Cas is on is already agreeing well with him—he seemed alright with it.

I have a couple of friends with Cas' condition. I'm glad he's doing well and that his head is on the right place at least. It's definitely something that you can live along peacefully, as long as you take your meds. Hell, one friend of mine stopped smoking and became a gym rat after being diagnosed and deciding he should take better care of himself. He was very freaked out at first, but time puts things in perspective, you know? Since we can't run from ourselves, sometimes the worst part of the stigma is self-imposed.

And the medications are always getting even better! You can now get an administered injection from your doctor so you don’t have to bother with daily pills. Cas will be (more than) alright. ❤️

Yeah, if it is, his life isn’t as over as he seems to think it is. It’s a serious diagnosis, of course, but absolutely not the death sentence it used to be.

Maybe don’t let him watch RENT, tho.
