Isn't it how the very first wendigo was created? Hunters lost in the woods, resulting eating the other hunter.

That’s what I remember. I’m pretty sure someone from the Donner party became a wendigo

I don't know about Donner party. But I'm listening a lot of stories about wendigos, skinwalkers, big foot, ect. And very ofter people telling these stories are confusing one for the other, so had to actually google what is what. When reading about how the first wendigo was created, through cannibalism I was actually surprised that there isn't more wendigos, as people from all around the world results in eating other humans for whatever reasons. Even Hollywierd throwing spirit cooking parties 🤷

That’s just how wendigo are made in general. I’m inclined to believe it’s not a wendigo though, since their defining characteristics are black-blue skin like that of a frozen corpse, a head like the skull of a stag, and inhumanly long and thin limbs, on top of an insatiable hunger. It’s unlikely they’re anything from Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or Western European lore either, since those are typically born monsters or undead. Could be something Russian or polish, maybe cursed by a hag for their taboo indulgence.
