Enlighten me as to what part of the article you believe I've misread.

Well he definitely proved his point. Even called himself out because even he knows. But nobody can challenge him for obvious reasons so he has to go through with it. Fair play lol

This is a case of gender identity vs biological sex; historically sport struggles to distinguish between the two.

And pretending like those genetic outliers make up the majority of athletes so we should just get rid of separate male / female events also doesn't help.
It ends up in situations like the one in the article.

"Bearded woman," right? This is someone who identified as female, after all.

I know intersex people and this talking point getting regurgitated is offensive to them.
The woman with CAH is a teeny woman with life threatening health complications from it that are not about being part "male" or even remotely looking masculine. She counts in that already low 1.7 percent.
Disorders such as XXY are still male. The X chromosome is not a "female" chromosome and is present in everyone.
Those men count in the already low 1.7 percent.
I've been married to an intersex person with androgen issues and they look like your typical person. Using "Intersex" as a gotchya is old and insensitive. The image it's trying to conjure up is a rare unicorn.
As far as Transgender people go, the one closest to me is 100% their observed sex. We know because they were tested. That doesn't invalidate anything within the community so we don't need to lean on "intersex" as some sort of safety net.

Things get a little freaky near the very ends of the tails of a normal distribution, it has nothing to do with this.

I wonder just what exactly people who are downvoting you expect to happen? This isn't going to go their way and that doesn't mean that people aren't gonna support them in general. It just means that when it comes to sports biology could be an unfair advantage.

It's weird. It's almost as if testosterone can impact one's muscle mass or something.

Sure there are individual differences, but males and females are different classes when it comes to athletic performance. https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/4vcxd0/almost_all_men_are_stronger_than_almost_all_women/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x The average male is much stronger than the average female. It’s a bell curve, and these difference are more pronounced when you compare the extreme ends of the bell curves, where the athletes reside.
As of a year ago, there have only been 34 WNBA dunks ever (24 by Brittany Griner). Meanwhile, 5’7” Spud Webb dunked over 7’7” Manute Bol.

i know, its a joke from a rogan special.. lol.. about how "women can do everything a man can do" but he says that doesnt work because men cant even do all the things a man can do and points out him and shaq lol..
men are stronger, faster and bigger in general..
Devz0r t1_jeez49b wrote
My mistake. I am familiar with that joke. I just know that I’ve seen a ton of people unironically and seriously saying that it’s ok for males to compete with females because Michael Phelps and LeBron James have physical advantages over other males, too.
TurdFerguson416 t1_jef448o wrote
ahh, yeah i can see that but was not my intention.. I think its a joke that guys can lose in their division and declare they are women to dominate.
im not aware of any rules that prevent woman from playing in a mens league, it just doesnt happen for obvious biological reasons lol.. cant help but notice these debates are never around trans men. lol
Tom-ocil t1_jef4u46 wrote
> I pointed out that claiming anything as simple as basic "men and women have differences in physiology" isn't that basic.
It's as simple and basic as "human beings have two eyes." Yes, outlier cases exist, but for the most part, it's truth.
Devz0r t1_jef51p0 wrote
Yeah it’s never about trans men because it’s not about trans, it’s about male advantages. But I think trans men competing against cis women is an even bigger deal if they’re taking testosterone bc they’re literally roided up females. I think there should be a cis woman only league because they’re the only people who haven’t experienced male levels of testosterone which permanently changes the body

Helldozer5000 t1_jegjy2n wrote
Yep, rules exist because of the lowest common denominator, which in this case is people who purposefully act in bad faith. It would be nice if actual trans athletes could compete with the gender they identify with but folks like Mr. Silverberg will always be around to make such a policy untenable.
EightandaHalf-Tails t1_jecja4s wrote
It's almost like men and women have differences in physiology...
I'm all for allowing people to identify as what they want, but pretending like there's no biological difference between the sexes in regards to athletic competitions is just stupid.
