Everytime I watch someone do a snatch, this is what goes through my brain

I heard they're keeping him far away from the weighting room.

Idk if this is really oniony. This happens all the time. I know a guy with permanent brain damage who dropped the bar on his forehead benching without a spotter.

Got a source for frequency of occurrences? Cause in 20 years of lifting I’ve never seen someone end up with brain damage from dropping a barbell on their head while bench pressing. Not saying it can’t happen or doesn’t happen, just doubting the frequency. Seems like a freak accident more than “happens all the time.”

I think it's more... people frequently get injuries from working out at the gym without proper knowledge. Even folks that know what they are doing are subject to injury if they do it too much without proper rest days. It's almost as if some folks just go to the gym to get injuries.

Plenty of snatch related injuries, but this was probably bench press. The fact that you’re standing in the snatch mean that you’re head has somewhere to go if it gets hit and the weight isn’t moving that fast compared to say a punch. A bench on the other hand could totally crush your skull and neck.
