Except the Polish treasures they "acquired" while invading...
You mean stuff looted 300 years ago? Everyone did that back then.
Like the difference between a pirate and a privateer.
Museums and places around the world are sending stuff back, could be time for that.
Did Poland also loot stuff while invading?
[deleted]
Everyone else is doing it. It’s no big deal
Yes it is. We have a different idea of whats acceptable nowadays.
You’re actually bringing morality into the equation? Psh Christian

When did Sweden invade Poland? Are you a German trying to deflect?
Have you really never heard of the Deluge?
I'm not arguing that we should get "our" stuff back. I don't care. I'm just annoyed at shitty history knowledge.
To be fair, we’ve had a shit tonne of wars in Europe. I probably know a bit about 20 of them or so but I’m not really familiar with that one. I tend to be more familiar with the ones my country has had more of a role in.
It’s probably common knowledge in Poland but if you live in Spain, France or England, you probably have to be a real military history fan to know about it.
I can tell you this. In American public schools we absolutely learned nothing about this, barely anything outside of America. Of what we did learn it was all Ancient, or about the major colonial powers. I know quite a few fully functioning adults who couldn't label all their continents, never mind Sweden or Poland.
As an American, our mid 1700's military history is pretty crowded. No room for some not even regionally impactful war.
This was mid 1600s, and pretty damn regional impactful. Poland-Lithuania was a major power in Europe at the time, and this was the beginning of them losing their power and ceasing to exist over many wars in the next century. We'd know about the Polish Lithuanian commonwealth and how powerful they were if our history left America 1600-1945 for just one of the 12 years.
I’m an American do you really think I learned that? As if Us Americans would lower Ourselves to learning about wars We weren’t involved in and didn’t start. Lol
Someone didn't pay attention in world history.
I did, but it focused on British royalty effing with their german, french, and spanish cousins around the world. didn't hear this about Swedish cousins effing their polish cousins (in the 1600s?). meh...was there a take away that we missed...could it have prevented any of the 'world wars'? so sweden used to be a bad ass, but not so much now? poland used to be a big dog, but not so much now
So world history for you was learning solely about the 1900s world wars and a very, very small amount of European royalty. Got it.
Exactly. If it didn’t have to do with American imperialism then it wasn’t important enough for them to teach Us about in school. Whatever it takes to boost that national pride in one’s own young boon of a country throwing its weight around against the rest of the world and basically sticking Our nose in business that didn’t involve Us but We made it involve Us. America doesn’t get invited to the party? America creates the party
Yes
You crazed Nazi bastard. Have you no shame or sense of decency? I guess you sold that out to mein fuhror huh?
Or admitting they helped Pol Pot stay in power so he could torture and kill some more countrymen.
Het, let it go.... Its definitely not in the Kings Castle. And not in his safe in room 320. I promise.
Are you talking about the 30 Years War?
Ta bort ditt användarnamn från mitt internet tack :-(
Ogillar du min dillgräddsås?
Det är inte den det är fel på. Det är jag. Vi kanske inte borde träffas mer.
they really do!
In 1831 the Swedish Navy planted over 300,000 oak trees with the intention of harvesting them for ships 150 years later...they still keep track of them but there aren't any current plans to harvest them.
Bro you ain't getting those volvos let it go
The North Korean Govermnent is not trustworthy? Who could have known!
According to the article, "Swedish export companies — and left-leaning politicians," the Swedish Export Credit Agency, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
I am shocked, shocked I say

swedish cars are something else
Volvo, 3 million miles, World Record
https://nypost.com/2014/12/29/the-record-breaking-roadster-with-3-million-miles/
In fairness, that's partially on Sweden for assuming the world's craziest state would follow the rules.
"Hey can we borrow 1000 cars?"
"You're gonna give them back, right? Right?!"
No offense to Sweden, but that's clearly on Sweden. Who the fuck lends another country a thousand cars? That country is halfway around the planet too. They were never getting those cars back and they should've known it.
Those 1000 cars are currently with more than, well, North Korea on the classic car market.
Who could’ve predicted Kim Jong Yun?
Florida?
"We won't nag about these by now worthless cars if you open your borders and peacefully merge with South Korea."
We've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty...
Mwa-ha-ha-ha! We shall purge communism from your nation one way or another!
Volvo is foolish for not getting the money up front. No way they're sending repo men to North Korea.
That's really on Sweden. Don't be lending 1000 Volvos to anyone. Certainly not North Korea.
and?
[hoatile country with no money, trade, or exports] [has not repayed debt] to [forign contry] is not even news, let alone oniony
Oh snap, that would downgrade NK credit rating to "T" (thug / thief).
More likely that Jerry Seinfeld will return Tropic of Cancer to the library
Isn't that book flagged?
Are you thinking of the one George took into the bathroom?
I am!
Yeah, someone drew pictures of peepees and weewees in it.
But it’s his favorite novel. And he has a valid claim to it. After 10 years it’s just squatting
Pictured: a Volvo made well after 1974.
Im sure NK still has em. Maybe they'll give them back.
There are pictures of some of those volvos still driving on North Korean streets actually.
Kim Il-sung doing a bit of trolling
I'm getting the feeling they don't intend to pay.
Invasion time. They would never expect it.
Kim must have read " The Art of the Deal".
Pretty sure everyone involved knew that was not a loan…
Who dares question the super supremacy of the North Korean nation? Like they even have the same game of leadership anymore. Kim Jong Yun is a whole other beast!
This made me flash on the book The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden. There something about Sweden making a gift of cars in exchange for taking a rogue atomic bomb off their hands. ..although I think it involved China, not NK. Always wonder how much fact is behind that guy's fiction.
Good luck with getting them back 😂
After ww3 Sweden can take a piece of North korea
Recycled and used for rocket parts
That the NKs didn’t find use for the industrial equipment surprises me.
Flipside, yeah, this is pretty funny; on one hand no-one knew that they were this down the drain. On the other… The signals were there from the start

What Volvos? —North Korea
Yeeeaaahhh, I don’t think they’ll be getting those back
Plot twist- Volvo now owned by a Chinese company.

Damn. Sweden really keeps track of everything, doesn't it?
