The escalator construction on 53rd and Lex is killing me. I’m getting yelled at all morning to “stay to the right!”

Have you seen the ones at Grand Central Madison/LIRR?
This is nothing!

How many days until it stops working?

I lived one block from this for 14 years until 7 months ago. This was my main subway station. I barely even recognize it, but it’s a good taste of home.

Fuck that shit, I'll break it before Monday for FREE

that is beautiful. thanks for the report OP.

I once came home from a long night of drinking and decided it was a better idea to puke next to the escalator than on the escalator. Sorry to whomever had to clean that up, but I think we can all agree I made the right choice.

Bummed 184th entrance will be closed til August

Maybe you should stay to the right then lol

Yeah, I don’t walk down those. I tried the first time, and I started experiencing vertigo.

Let’s count the amount of days before it stops working.

god that fuckin elevator in the summer, and that poor guy they would station in it with a teeny tiny fan
tessajanuary t1_jeg5zha wrote
I haven't checked it out today yet, but my understanding is that the elevators are staying open, it's just the tunnel to overlook that's being closed.

i wanna go visit one of these days; is it deeper than the hudson yard one?

Is this the station that has the four elevators? And all this time I had no idea there were escalators!

BoredMoravian t1_jegttzi wrote
I am sad because now they are closing my entrance because that one is open. Will add another 10 minutes to my commute. I’ve lived at 181 for 3.5 years and that station has been under construction the entire time. I plan to move at the end of the year and I expect I will have lived at that stop for 4 years and it will not have been completely functional that entire time.
Offthepoint t1_jegu82a wrote
I can neither look up or down that one when I'm on it and I've been riding subway escalators over 60 years. It's a doozy.

At least they let him have a radio/cassette player/CD player.

Definitely get vertigo if it’s long enough.
scottmakingcents t1_jeh1szr wrote
On the 181st side there are stairs and this escalator. On the 184th side, elevators.
broadcastterp t1_jeh2kqx wrote
This is correct - the two entrances will be at 181st and 184th and Fort Washington
joyousRock t1_jeffcnp wrote
they will break down in about 3 weeks
