Exactly. Actual pizza places are barely getting by with $3-$4 slices, and you think these K-Mart clearance $1 pizzas have found some amazing secret to their prices?

They were selling you greasy pizza-flavored cardboard and convinced you that you were getting a good deal. No self-respecting New Yorker would pay $1 for that garbage.

Its just volume. Constant line of people. The slices don't even get a chance to cool down enough to need reheating before the pie is gone and the next comes out. No they are not using mozzarella made in-house from milk that's hand squeezed out of a cows tit in the backyard... but plenty of the dollar joints are fine for what they are.
