"We recruit temporary, per diem snow laborers. These workers are called on after heavy snowfalls to remove snow and ice Citywide from areas like bus stops, crosswalks and fire hydrants. Pay starts at $17.00 per hour and increases to $25.50 per hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week."

After you break your back for a week, we'll tell you to keep digging. Don't worry, this is per diem so you don't have health insurance either. You good, bro? Bro??? .... Bro?

It's absurd they aren't laying a living wage for this. Who can pay their rent on 17.00 an hour?

Let's start a temporary snow shovelers union.

$17 an hour, 160 hours in a month, that's $2720 per month.

Maybe $2000 after taxes, probably underselling.

You can pay rent on that. Not gonna do much else but you can pay rent.

And that's without working any OT.
