Oh, this is a Black Hebrew Israelite thing? I used to see them posted up around town. They try to start arguments with random passers-by.

Seems to be the same stuff Kanye is on lately.

Hebrew Israelites say black people are descendants of Abraham and the chosen people. Kanye is buddies with Candace Owens and says black ppl chose slavery. Very different perspectives lol

You’re assuming any kind of logic or critical thinking is involved here

The Hebrew Israelite thing itself is so full of nonsense (like historical jibberish nonsense) and internal contradictions that anyone who actually subscribed to it is a serious idiot. To give you an idea, one of the 12 Tribes of Israel is “the Puerto Ricans”

Suspicious_Error_722 t1_iuurmah wrote

Can you explain that, it’s very confusing. Do they mean the modern day people who are now Puerto Rican because they had native and Moor ancestors? Or are you saying like actual Puerto Ricans? Im so confused by this and have never heard this used as an argument.

Well ya…because it’s nonsense and in no way can be configured to make sense.

You’re putting more thought into it then they do.

For example, “The Negros” (African Americans) are the tribe of Judah and the Haitians are the tribe of Levi and the “West Indies” are the tribe of Benjamin…in the context of how the Transatlanic slave trade worked…What?

Places like Cuba and PR are super multiethnic. What does that even mean “the cubans”? Like, a European colonist, a trafficked slave, and a native Taino are all from the same tribe? Or is it just The Native population? But they were Taino so how are native Dominicans and Cubans and Puerto Ricans (who all would have been Taino) from different tribes for some reason? And that’s not even getting into them somehow being from Israel apparently. How did “The Native Americans” who are from the tribe of Gad get there? Who then were the natives who were there 12,000 years prior while the Tribe of Gad was…not yet existing? What kind of crazy bananas pants history makes this work?

Like I said, none of this makes any sense

Arguing that some religious beliefs make sense and others don’t is pretty laughable in itself lol

I mean, I’m an atheist…so, ya…Gods silly.

Either way, on the scale of dumb to batshit stupid this is more on the batshit stupid mark

You’re still saying the same thing so my response remains: Arguing that some religious beliefs make sense and others don’t is pretty laughable in itself

The issue isn't really the religious beliefs, it's the spreading of conspiracy theories about Ashkenazi people.

Romas_chicken t1_iuumxdq wrote

Ok. Kind of a tangent and all, and has nothing to do with my comment, and I never argued any religious briefs made sense, or even mentioned religion (in the context of supernatural claims)…so…

Like what point are you trying to make here? That someone going “I think Jesus existed” and someone going “I think Jesus was a Mexican Chupacabra who became the king of England before time traveling to 1914 to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand” are equally stupid, so the next time I mention anything about how you’d have to be an idiot to take chupacabra king of England Jesus guy seriously I should also add a caveat that so are Catholics?

Ya well, MahiMahi is much better than Tuna. So there.

Some religious beliefs make more sense than others though. Ya. That seems pretty obvious…and irrelevant to anything in this thread

relampagos_shawty t1_iuupiag wrote

No it’s not obvious, and fish comparisons aren’t making it look less laughable. If you’re trying to bait me into some insipid argument comparing religions can you just accept what I already said three times and let me go lol

But you get that the Empire Strikes Back is a great movie, right?

Bro in all of his interviews justifying his tweet about going deathcon on all the jews hes saying that black people are jews and its not anti semetic for him to have said that.

relampagos_shawty t1_iuuu7yx wrote

What’s your point? Rastafarians believe Africans are a lost tribe of Israel too. You could oversimplify and conflate different things if it suits you but I’m telling you it’s not the same

profchaos2001 t1_iuv0fjd wrote

Because your comment is wrong. He is voicing Black Hebrew Israelite views. He is also voicing right wing extremist Candace Owens agit-prop.

So I stand corrected, your comment was half wrong.

relampagos_shawty t1_iuvyui7 wrote

You don’t know what you’re talking about but think you do so this discussion is pointless lol, but a black person saying black people are Jews doesn’t make them a Black Hebrew Israelite. Another obvious thing besides the ones I’ve already said is that Black Hebrew Israelites absolutely don’t preach about following Jesus lmao, which Kanye does. I’m done here but say whatever else you want to say

1

Romas_chicken t1_iuwusyh wrote

> that Black Hebrew Israelites absolutely don’t preach about following Jesus

This is not correct. Have you ever watched them? They had a public access show back in the day and are obsessed with the King James Bible, quoting revelations constantly

3

relampagos_shawty t1_iux9zg8 wrote

Wrong. Them using quotes from the Bible that support their ideas doesn’t mean that they think Jesus is the messiah and they don’t lol. Ask any of them. They absolutely don’t.

1

Romas_chicken t1_iuxyzi4 wrote

Uhm…while I’m sure if I ask any number of them I’d probably get many different answers…because it’s gibberish nonsense and changes from one day to the next…

Anyway, when I watched them on TV they were taking about Jesus coming back and their founder insisted he was coming back in 2000 (didn’t work out of course).
