Do we really need a hearing? Are our impassioned pleas to not spend more money actually going to sway the folks who want more money? They’ll raise the price anyway but at least we get to annoy the big wigs

FWIW the rate case was filed months ago and I'm pretty sure Senator Mamdani has been a part of it, even going so far to have filed testimony. These hearings are nice and all, but it's way too late in the game for them to have any impact...

Infrastructure isn't free. If you want green energy now (like a majority green in the next ten years) you're talking trillions of dollars in infrastructure spending.
I want that. But I also understand that there is going to be a cost. For some reason a lot of my fellow green energy proponents live under the false assumption that you can just snap your fingers and trillions of dollars in generation and transmission projects just magically appear the next day.

Yes, but at the current moment the issue with energy prices is due to price shocks from fossil fuels, trying to blame green energy is a total red herring.

Biden's energy policy has directly lead to increases but this isn't even entirely his fault -- its everyone over the last 20 years who have refused to build more nuclear plants to facilitate our ever growing energy needs. Renewabls are nice, and we should continue with that, but there's no way it will meet our needs alone.

Yeah it was Biden who told the domestics to produce less when oil went negative. Was Biden who told the Saudis we wouldn't trade weapons with them if they didn't lower output. Biden must have been part of the bargain struck with the Saudis to produce 1m less gallons a few weeks before the election.
Bidens responsible for world inflation too. Definitely responsible for the tariffs added in 2018 that effectively reduced supply just before covid.
Nuclear takes a decade or more to plan and build. On top of that you can say whatever you want about it being safe. The public perception will never agree with you. And in a way they're right.

I have an intense dislike for coned. Apparently during the pandemic they never read my meter and then decided to charge me $2000 for two years worth of service since i had underpaid prior.
