Haven’t come across this in the news or anything but was walking around and found out they have added smart compost bins across Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, and parts of the Bronx. You can now drop off your compost at these bins. Anything from food scraps, plants, meat, and dairy can be dropped off at these bins. Just need to download the app to find your nearest bin and to unlock it.

Attaching the IOS link here! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nyc-compost/id1596363693

Saw one in Harlem, odd corner, going to just get trash all tossed in it.

Curious what the roll out plan is for other neighborhoods with higher composting levels.

I love this BUT you need the app to unlock the bin, and by extension, your location! Sus

What is sis about it, it’s unlocking it so you can use it because you know people would just throw garbage on it otherwise.

What is so sensitive about your day to day life that you need to be worried about that? Just set it to only have access to location while you are using it.
