The ball drop is honestly better on tv. As mentioned, you need to get there really early in the day and then you can’t leave the metal pen you’re put into for anything - bathroom, eating, drinking, etc. Some years they don’t even let you sit on the ground so you’re standing for 12+ hours. You also can’t bring bags.
