I think about retirement a lot. (Lol.) And one of the things I’m pretty sure I would do if suddenly gifted the luxury of time is go to different events and make full use of what this city has to offer. Concerts, dance performances, dramatic plays, musical theater, art exhibits, all of it.

Something I’ve always wanted to do was map out what one month of that would look like. Since I don’t have the time (or money or even energy, for that matter) to live out this fantasy, this subreddit seems like the best place to actually share this list.

If this is a total waste of online real estate, kindly downvote and move on. But if anyone actually finds this helpful, let me know and March can be next! I just hated the idea of making this and then never actually sharing it anywhere.

Personally, I maintain a living spreadsheet for NYC concerts, which I update at least twice a week with newly announced shows, while archiving which ones I've attended. I include date and price information and show notes, and before you ask, it's color-coded.

I'm definitely more of a "planner" than most of my peers, so I basically keep it to myself, but I share weekly snippets over on r/NYCConcerts. That is to say, anyone interested in seeing a rock concert this month can subscribe there for more info.

This is a really cool spread of event types too!! Even if I can’t go on a particular day, I learned about a few new spots from this. Personally I’d love it if you keep it up next month!

This is fantastic. I would love it if you continue to share these. Nice that there are some free events, too. Thank you.

This is fire. Could you provide a little detail on how you found all this information from such a wide variety of events? Oftentimes me and my girlfriend just look at one TimeOut lists for the coming weekend, but you have some really awesome stuff that would never be on there

The starting point is a gigantic list of NYC venues and performing groups that I have personally saved as a folder of bookmarks. Many are places I've been and groups I've seen, but by no means all. I assembled it a while ago but never had an outlet to use it! After that it was trying a variety of search terms like "solo recital NYC," "NYC society events," and "2023 tour dates NYC."

TimeOut is nice, but it doesn't account for many small, niche venues, and it is just insane how much there is to do in this city!

As cool as I think this is.. it would be nice to see a list of things outside the arts. That’s often easy to come by the information or lists of imo.

It’s everything else that is harder to find that’s more interesting on a personal level.

Thanks for sharing and hope you continue. I know others will get value from it.

Thank you—I appreciate the feedback! The arts are what I know best and thus easiest for me to research and gauge the "coolness" of. What other sorts of events would you be interested in seeing?

Wow this is fantastic, thank you! I plan about a week at a time and plug in a few things further out. What you did takes a ton of research and I appreciate it. Also appreciate that many events are pretty reasonably priced.

Great list! And love that it's arts focused.

FYI, your end dates are wrong - skipped Sunday, which is 2/26. Almost made me have a heart attack about travel plans for later that week 😂
