the industrial-type feel of the area has a lot to do with that. And the new constructions still underway, which always makes an area sketchy with the scaffolding, plastic barriers, blocked sidewalks, wood walls. etc.

Yeah, good point. Parts of Williamsburg feel shady and that’s long, long since fully gentrified (or orthodox.)

Near the LIRR station and north of it is hardly the worst. I wouldn’t say “real bad” unless you are taking South Jamaica, which is quite far removed from what this thread was talking about.
