The irony of the first dispensaries exclusively opening in the richest whitest borough and neighborhoods in the city, when the entire program was supposedly delayed to ensure licenses went people who faced the most adversity.

I think it’s due to all subway lines going to union square. Very accessible.

I do agree. Time to open dispensary’s in other boroughs

It's accessible to people have have the time to commute there and out of their way. I understand there's a lawsuit blocking Brooklyn licenses (BOOOO!) but come on, they have to find someplace for these not in the richest neighborhoods in Manhattan.

And other counties! It’s a state-wide law and NYS is huge… all the dispensaries are within a mile of each other.

All three rec dispensary’s are a few blocks from each other. This is terrible

Not if you live in the area.

What's the third one?

There's Housing Works at Astor Place, Smacked in Greenwich Village, and now this one.

Thank god. Finding weed has been just extremely difficult lately

This rollout is embarrassing. They are delusional if they think cannabis consumers will pay their tax after spitting in our faces.

drpvn t1_j6laehg wrote

They’re creeping uptown!

midtownguy70 t1_j6nj7kb wrote

Should be 25-50 for an eighth including tax instead of 40 -60 plus tax. Or the illegal places will still be attracting lots of customers.

milkgivesmetheruns69 t1_j6n1iks wrote

I live near the Greenwich village one that just opened. There were news crews there covering it and people lined up outside at 10 am to buy from the store.

Meanwhile there are like 6-8 stores within a two block radius that sell weed. It’s a joke

I really hope this helps everyone stop being so angry lol a happy New York that would be something

ADustedEwok t1_j6nz9pd wrote

The idea that id pay more and tax for mediocre weed is laughable. Their rollout is tone deaf. 90% of smokers aren’t going to change buying habits. And the only people I’ve seen in like is 35-75 year old corporate people

Because Union Square doesn't reek like weed enough already

Since when did this Reddit become a place to post store openings. Can I create a post about the new Korean wing spot by me?

bottom t1_j6mxmbv wrote

Sure. If there is only one other legal wing spot in the city - oh and if eating wings was illegal for decades. Then it would be interesting.

mac117 t1_j6ohdnd wrote

Can you? I love Korean fried chicken. I have Chik Chik across the street from me
