Source - I rented out half of my duplex for ~ 5 years. I'm not sure how it would work with renting out a single shared dwelling space, but might be worth investigating.

I'm gonna go through H&R block this year as opposed to trying to do taxes myself through TurboTax. i appreciate this comment, I'll definitely be asking about this when I file!
