Not long before the pandemic, Cedar Realty announced a major overhaul of Quartermaster Plaza on both the north and south sides of Oregon, and they demolished the old Aaron’s and the strip mall that used to house the dollar general and the post office, but the sites been pretty much unchanged since.

I saw that Cedar has been unwinding their holdings, which included the sale of the property about 6 months ago, and, around that time, plans were announced for a new Sprouts, but I haven’t heard much since. As someone that owns in the area, that all got me pretty excited, so I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of any updates

I don't have a lot of updates but, the Sprouts will be next to the Pet Smart and Planet Fitness. I think another club is supposed to take over the old LA Fitness spot. There's a new seafood spot with a liquor license opening just south of where LA Fitness was.

That's about all I know for now. No idea when the apartment construction is supposed to begin.

Saw that last week. We don’t really need more supermarkets, but I’m not opposed to having better supermarkets down here. The shoprite and the acme are both pretty mediocre, and don’t offer much outside of the basics.

Nice, when I was grabbing a bag of dog food a week or two ago, I saw that they were getting to work on something there, so that’s awesome news. Having a better option down here for food shopping is exciting.

I hope the rest can come to fruition, as it would be such a massive improvement, but not that hopeful given market conditions.

There was a lot of pushback a couple years ago regarding what would or wouldn't go in the new Plaza. Kenyatta Johnson's office went out of his way to slow any kind of new development which, delayed the project.

Personally I dislike the suburban style layout of the whole place but, that will largely remain the same.

Have you tried the new Aldi yet? I went the weekend it opened and it was great.

Crexi.com is a commercial real estate site and Ive downloaded the flyer for the complex thats revitalizing the old buildings along oregon. Theyre actively seeking businesses, the flyer lacks a good floor plan but its always fun to peak at it. No big insights pop to mind.

The layout does suck, but I don’t know how much you can do about that without spending tons of money. I was hopeful for the target as well, as the one thing I wish we had here was a place for decent home goods that wasn’t Marshall’s.

Haven’t been to the Aldi yet as it was nuts when I went by opening weekend, but I will be heading there in the next week to check it out

I saw that earlier today, and was part of what got me to make this post. Definitely an awesome development, but it got me wondering about the retail developments that were supposed to happen 2-3 years ago

I'm an architect actually toured this space with SkyREM (the developer) when they were looking for proposals. It has a massive amount of square footage for space. There's not unlimited amount of space in the navy yards and there are a lot of biotech companies coming to Philly. Though most of them are going to the navy yards and west Philly.

The quartermaster had a cool history and there could be cost benefits for renovating and repressing historic buildings that are on the site. There's even still an orginal bowling alleys that the officers of the time used.

That ShopRite is awful. Always reeks of old fryer grease, and it has by far the worst layout I have EVER seen in a grocery store. Name something you want to buy, and there's a 50% chance the options are split into two different places.

Sparkling water? Some are in one aisle, some in another. Same with tortilla chips, eggs, bacon, milk, shredded cheese. Just incredibly stupid
