I was at the game tonight. He played well, still a bit concerned about the Achilles going into the playoffs.

You would think that an organization as large as CBS would have someone on staff that speaks Thai and could help the blond lady be confident in pronouncing Chutatip 'Nok' Suntaranon. That being said, I didn't know about Kalaya before now and I've been jonesing for some good Thai food since I left Queens. Might need to make a trip up to Fishtown this weekend.

It's SO good. The dishes are not at all what I'm used to (takeout Thai) and there are lots of good options.

Food wise I think Grandmas is better than Kalaya. Kalaya has a great ambience and the presentation is just lovely. But if you’re just after impeccable food, then Grandmas is the move.

Good luck to the nominees, but FSS can take a hike: they went from a cool neighborhood place to pretentious and uninspired prix fixe… whatever it is; there’s no way in seven hells I’d be paying $155pp for whatever it is they are serving.

Hardest of passes.

And - good luck to the nominees.

That's disappointing. I'd heard really good things and it's still on my list.

Don't listen to this jabroni. Friday Saturday Sunday went from really good with their regular menu pre-pandemic to absolutely elite with the prix fixe now. Yes, it's a high price but it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Heard the cocktails are still very good, but there's no way I'll be considering it for a full dinner thing: there are way better restaurants that I prefer that don't cost that much (and even if I dropped more on a dinner - it was always worth it).

I also prefer different cuisine and my regular go-tos are not "fine dining", or whatever they are pretending to be, but even by looking at their menu makes me go "NAAAAH..." (it's not exciting to me at all, and the price is eyebrows raising).

Surprised you're getting downvoted on this. I guess I could live with the price for a special occasion but why they have to be so aggressive about diets?

Their website says: "Please note: Day-of menu substitutions cannot be accommodated, if you have a life-threatening food allergy please contact us prior to your reservation. Vegan and dairy-free requests cannot be accommodated."

I have a previously-not-life-threatening allergy or sensitivity to shellfish. Between their current menu and their attitude, I certainly wouldn't try my luck. And I guess vegans and vegetarians can take a hike too. An easy way to deal with the panoply of modern diet preferences would be to offer a variety of dishes and allow customers to choose...
