I ordered a dress that winded up not working out, and I’m unable to return it. It’s brand new and it feels wrong to just have it sit in my closet. Is anyone familiar with places where I can donate it to students who are looking for dresses for prom? I’m in South Philly but willing to travel. Thank you!

Pretty much any high school in Philadelphia would love to get a prom dress this time of year, you probably could just show up but it might be better to call first. I work at a high school in North Philly if you feel like traveling!

I've heard with food, check with the school nurse. That's the person who will know who's in need and how to be discreet. Not sure it works for prom dresses too, but maybe worth a shot.

Philly aids thrift has a prom/bridal section if u can’t find a way to specifically donate it to students.

Rachel’s Prom Fantasy might be one group to look at. The Police Athletic League also does pretty regular drives.

Hey I just donated two suits. I basically posted in the south silly page on Facebook but you could probably post in which ever area Facebook group you live in. I was able to donate them to a family and a school that way!

CHOP used to ask for donations of them for the CHOP prom, which is a prom for inpatients unable to attend their school prom due to thier conditions.

I don't know if they still do this program it was a regular pre covid, might be worth looking into.

PAL takes prom attire and offer it to the most at risk youth in the city.

I donated a dress last year to the Nebinger school HSA who was collecting for a specific organization. Not sure if it’s something they do every year.

Years ago I volunteered for a prom dress non-profit in Port Richmond but I can’t remember the name. Hoping someone else can chime in if they still exist
