I am very interested to see how large the crossover is between the reddit community and the Latino community in Philadelphia.

But, sorry, i can't help.

I think you’re referring to Cuba Libre at 2nd and Market

I’ll have to check out cuba libre, but doesn’t it only play like salsa/batchata type shit?

Makumba, A Langosta but it’s mixed in with the regular Tropical music

A lot of places don’t like to play that music because of the crowd it attracts

Lucha cartel and Cuba libre on Friday and Saturday nights. Both right next to each other

Lucha Cartel. All types of Latin music, some reggaeton but also bachata and stuff.

is there a dance floor there?

CatchMeWritinQWERTY t1_jcovfd6 wrote

Oh yes. It’s basically a dance club after certain hours on the weekends. They serve dinner then clear all the tables out of the way and it gets nice and sloppy in there. Honestly, I’m in my 30s now so it is a little too packed for me but it’s still fun to go every once in a while.

While we are on that, moved here from Tucson last summer and desperately need good authentic Sonoran or any Mexican food…recs?

pookypocky t1_jcrviqb wrote

There's a ton of Mexican in South Philadelphia, but it's not Sonoran. The vast majority is Puebla cuisine, since the vast majority of Mexicans here are from there. It's great!

I'm curious why only Latinos are allowed to answer. I have some info but I'm Asian. Oh well...

Why do you have an issue with people seeking what appears to be cultural info from their own community? You sound really insecure.
