I live in DC and always like to hear from those visiting that the city treated them well in our sub so I thought I’d do the same for my first trip to your city!

I came up for a short spooky weekend and y’all delivered! I’m a petite 30/f with a baby face and I have to say that this city never made me feel unsafe. That was really cool. Everyone was beyond kind and the weather was perfect so I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

In case anyone wanted to know what I could pack into a 3 day trip traveling solo and walking everywhere here’s a list of the spots I stopped at:

Food: Grindcore House, Rione, Tria cafe, Ants pants, Reading terminal market for Miller’s twist pretze, Fitz on 4th, Scoop deville, Nightmare before tinsel, Sabrina’s cafe, Tattooed mom for a vegan cheesesteak, Shane’s confectionary, Lore’s chocolate

Non-food: Mutter museum, Anastacia’s antiques, Liberty bell, Fisher Fine Art Library, Rosenbach library, Penn museum, Woodlands cemetery, Eastern state penitentiary, Rocky steps, Poe house

Thanks again for the hospitality!

Thank you for posting. It’s nice to get a compliment every now and again as the ugly middle child of NYC and DC.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. That itinerary was perfect. One of the great things about Philly is its proximity to DC!

It was absolutely beautiful! Was able to go at 10am on Friday so I nearly had the entire place to myself. Actual magic

Is the Poe house tour guide still the funniest man on earth? Also do they still use the vcr for the beginning video. It always cracked me up how good spirited the staff there is for the amount we underfund them lol

That place was a trip with how under funded it is and how the staff is still in such good spirits. I work in archives so my heart hurt for them but it was a lovely 5 minute stop hahaha
