So I haven't taken Septa in forever since I moved a bit outside Philly but today I think I may take the subway to get into the city from Fern Rock.

Is it true that you can't pay in cash anymore and have to get the Septa Key Card thing? What's the actual deal? Am I able to just go to Fern Rock and pay cash or card or do I need this Septa Key? I keep getting mixed info.

you can pay in cash at the teller, $2.5 but they won’t give change. you can also pay in cash to get a septa key but it’s a minimum $10 if you need a new key card

yup, should be able to - as long as there’s a teller which there usually is - otherwise, I’m not advising it but I’ve seen plenty of people jump or squeeze through the turnstile

Haha makes sense. I guess my main worry is now the regional rail. Phils play at 8 tonight, last regional out of center city is like 11:15... would be cutting it close.

If you're heading in from Fern Rock, take the BSL subway. It's much quicker and stops right outside the stadiums.

Nope, not all have the Key kiosks for a new card. Idk for sure which stations have them, but I know smaller regional rail stations only have the "tap in/out" kiosks. BSL should have them at every station though.

you can buy a paper quick-trip ticket from the septa key machines for $2.50 valid for one ride on the subway (not on buses or trolleys). its listed here: https://www.septakey.org/info/fare-products

broad street line stops around midnight, but the night owl buses keep going. They aren't very frequent though. $2.50 cash fare on the bus, no change given.

Not sure what line you were asking about for regional rail, check the posted schedules, they don't run very late.

The Key will save you $0.50 cents per trip (more on RR) so unless this is truly a one-time thing I would suggest just picking up a key. You can get them from the same sales kiosks that sell individual trips.
