I'm relocating from Philly to southern Florida next month and trying to line up movers.

The more I learn about this extremely shady industry, the more confused I get. There are some serious horror stories out there about people scamming, delays, damaged items, etc.

Anyone have a good experience with a long distance mover to/from Philly?

Edit to claify: i really appreciate the folks suggesting pods or upark buts it's not workable given the street parking. Really looking for reputable door-to-door movers

I don't have a name, but I have heard you should put a few Airtags in your boxes so you can see where they are.

Don’t do pods unless you have a big driveway at both locations.

I’d almost rent a one way truck and hire labor at both locations to pack/unpack. I used hire-a-helper for moving labor and it worked out pretty well.

Good luck!

Depending on how much you have, you can see into the Uhaul Box. It's like PODS but you can keep the box at the storage facility and the people who work there can bring it in and out as you need it. You'll need to supply your own padlock per box. I'm not sure as to all that you're shipping. I got rid of a lot of my furniture and such and packed all boxes. It took roughly a week to get where I needed it to.

I'll add that while my Uhaul box was in transport I was driving two vehicles

Check with Movearama - I'm not sure if they're still doing long distance, but if they are they're good, local dudes that won't fuck around with you.

PODS did a great job when we used them. The pod is brought to you, you can pack the pod yourself or hire movers to help get the furniture and boxes into the pod. And the company takes the pod and delivers it.

Wayne Moving and Storage (Atlas Van Lines agent), Riley & Sons, and Clemmer Moving and Storage (Allied Van Lines agent). Never used them myself but I know they do long distance moves.

Edit: thought Wayne was a North American Van Lines agent
