Once upon a time, in the long, long ago (2008)….

2008 was the best of times, but also the blurst of times for me. It was the year I got married, but I had also been sexually assaulted 8 months prior.

Obviously, I lived.

Our wedding was set for Halloween (October was considered to be a weird time to get married at the time). And yes, we had our wedding that day. Our reception was on Broad Street. My entire wedding party was at the parade (my hairstylist was so pissed she was doing my hair during it, lol). And I was jealous too! I wanted to be a part of this crazy city party.

Fast forward a couple hours. My fiancé (now husband) and my brother couldn’t get a cab to the church. (This was long before Uber, my young ones). My wedding party got the very last train into Philly. A lot of my guests were already too drunk or couldn’t get into the city.

It was the best phucking day of my life. Since it was a Friday, Halloween AND parade day, people kept crashing the wedding and it was awesome. I wouldn’t change a thing! The highlight was some dude who wandered in as Green Man and I was just like, we’ve got booze, come in and party!

Now it’s 2022. I have cancer and I’m going for my 1st post op tomorrow with the poor groom who was an hour late to our wedding, lol.

I’m not scared anymore. Is it magical thinking? YES!

I am going to beat cancer.

I’m going to watch the WS with my husband while we’re on our annual anniversary trip.

They are going to win.

And I WILL be at the parade this time.
