Wanted to see if this was isolated to my local post office or if it’s just a bigger USPS issue.

The last two packages I was expecting being delivered by USPS were both marked out for delivery and then, after no doorbell rings or knocks all day, I get a notification on the tracking that says there was an “attempted delivery” made but there wasn’t a secure location to leave the package. I have a ring doorbell and there was no video from either of the times they claimed to have attempted a delivery. I also was home all day for both packages. Is this just them being super understaffed and drivers not being able to make full rounds each day? Luckily, neither package was anything time sensitive or medically necessary, but I can’t imagine what I would do if it was, especially because calling them does little to nothing.

My bet is they went back to the local po, and marked them as attempted. mail has been really off lately.

I've had this happen with packages that were shipped with UPS or FEDEX but USPS does "last mile delivery".

My theory is that it allows them to fabricate and log an event that satisfies a contractual obligation in a largely untraceable way. The vast majority of the time I've gotten the package the next day and always within two.

Same thing happened to me last week two days in a row. Turned out someone was blocking the street with cones so the mail truck couldn’t get down my block

Yeah I got an attempted delivery notification once when my street was completely shut down for construction

I get "No Access To Delivery Location" after a package has been Out For Delivery. Always at 5 to 6PM. They just can't get to everything and don't have a way to mark it as "Our Bad".

This isn't a new thing with USPS. I had USPS fail to deliver multiple packages to my old apt in Spring Garden back in 07-08. Despite having 5 roommates, 4 of which were students with at least 1-2 always around in the daytime, USPS failed to find anyone at home. I finally had to start having important mail and packages sent to my work.

Yep! It was marked on USPS's end that there was no access to the location for delivery. Mine turned out to be that our normal carrier, who's amazing, was on vacation and his stand in was being lazy. We reported it, but I doubt anything will come of it. Our stuff was delivered several days later when our normal carrier was back.

The basic impression I’m left with is that the postal workers of Philadelphia are on their last legs; emotionally, psychologically, you name it. My building has a new mail carrier practically every week, and a few of them came in, and just started screaming and swearing while delivering the mail. I found one of them in the little restroom down in the basement laundry room, he was down there for hours playing Candy Crush. Unless my building has something that post workers personally hate about it, then these people seem ready to break down.

USPS did the same thing to me. "Attempted" my ass. I was home all day and nobody attempted shit. I had to ask them to hold it at the post office and I went to pick it up .

USPS is slammed with work and not enough employees. We were told not to expect mail delivery every day. Tough job. Many are working 6 days a week and 12 hours a day. Be very thankful when you do see your mail person.

Yes. I’ve dealt with this. Sometimes for a week or more of non-existent “attempts.”

I’ve had very good luck with the online USPS missing package help form:

Usually, same day I complete it, someone calls to follow up, and either that day, or the next, the package arrives.

Yes, and I have had packages I drop into the blue box go missing, without being scanned. Idk wtf is going on with the USPS but they need to get their shit together. I also seem to have like 4 different mail carriers working my route. I'm pissed off and it's affecting my sales on eBay. It's pretty stupid how they've prevented the blue box lid from opening large enough to put in a bubble mailer without cramming it in too.

It means they ran out of time so they made a scan and will deliver the next day. Every station in the city is understaffed
