I was amused how quickly word got out about it.

Everyone I chatted with this week knew of it. I didn’t go but the family I babysit for did and they ended up giving me a case. Free produce? Hell yeah!

I just thought I’d save ppl a trip if they were planning to go tomorrow.

Fresh guacamole for Phillies weekend!

Saw many people complaining on that stupid nextdoor app that many boxes had mold all over the avocados.

I dunno what exactly led to this blowing up, but the social media/regular media point person needs a raise lol.

And if a lawyer started calling themselves avobogado.....💀

I think the ridiculousness of an avocado surplus is what caused it to blow up. It just sounds so crazy everyone was reposting

I imagine the kids will be avocadoing people's houses this halloween instead of egging them.

Making sure to piss off the neighborhood teens so I can scrape free guacamole off my house.

I went by on Thurs at around 12:30, and the line looked like a couple hour wait, and I had to get back to work. Glad all those avocados didn’t go to waste, but would have been nice to make a huge batch of guac and freeze it in little containers. That was my plan.

The line got long yesterday but it moves really quickly. It was about 200m long when I joined and I had a box after about 10 min.

The line was out to Pattison Ave and onto the sidewalk when I was there, and I waited for a few minutes and it didn't seem to be moving at all. Maybe they were still setting up and hadn't started giving crates out yet? Glad you got yours.

You don't know that yet

Ok, perhaps that was being a bit optimistic. I'm hoping people don't just hurl them at passing cars or something.

I am waiting to hear about a city-wide chip shortage due to the sudden increase in the guac supply.

Ya see back in the day you had Ronald Reagan and Steve Jobs and Bob Hope. Now you got Joe Biden and no Jobs and NO AVOCADOS

The unemployment rate is currently at a decades-long low.

DutchApplePie75 t1_it7dspb wrote

The unemployment rate doesn’t track people who have dropped out of the labor market altogether (they’re known as “disgruntled workers” and don’t get counted in the unemployment rate) and inflation is soaring along with interest rates.

The Biden administration also changed the definition of “recession” in order to cynically avoid negative headlines. These are not marks of a healthy economy.
