It’s easy enough to not pollute, or at least to dump it all into one collective place. This person made the conscientious choice to be a piece of shit.

Was thinking about this yesterday after watching someone throw fast food trash out their car window in the general direction of someone walking their dog on Poplar: the amount of littering and dumping that happens in this city makes me think we're forever fucked.

Until our neighbors decide to care about the community/place they live in enough to properly dispose of their garbage, there's no chance our city will ever change for the better. If people can't even consider how littering and dumping might affect others, they absolutely aren't giving a shit about anyone else's safety, health, well-being, experience on this earth, etc.

lately I've been trying to think of what it would mean to have compassion for people I see doing minorly antisocial behavior like littering or driving like a dickhead. Not necessarily because I think that these people should have compassion, but because I think throwing shade on strangers so much is bad for me.

something like "I bet if things were going better in that person's life, they wouldn't be acting out like this. I hope things go better for them."

at this point I'm not sure I could do that in the moment without injecting a little sanctimony or condescension, which isn't compassion. but I'd like to get there eventually.

It is so maddening to watch isn't it! Everytime I see it I get all riled up and then wonder why. But it still gets me everytime.

Rule 5: All crime or missing persons posts are required to have credible proof - like a news article or police report- in order to prevent harassment and doxxing.
