I used to work there and I’d waste time on my shift taking waaaay too long stocking toothbrushes so I could watch them work.

Nope named after the projects and school, where mlk once spoke. Very 60s are term occasionally still used

It's been Hawthorne since before you were born. The old school building at 11th and Washington was the Hawthorne School, and the projects to the north were called Hawthorne Square. The name got attached to the whole surrounding area.

Its a term used widely in the past. Once they demo hawthorne projects it lost usage
