People need to really fucking stop leaving their kids in running cars. God damn. Straight up negligence.

Don't even leave a running car. Adding the child really ups the ante.

Bonus on this one, he also had two guns in the center console. Article said he had a carry license, too -- really disappointing behavior from a license holder. Hopefully, the console was at least locked. Have one on your person, not in a vehicle with a child.

Don't leave your car running

Don't leave your guns...with your kid...in the car...that ate the cat that shat in the hat that was thrown at the house that love built. (Sorry, I forget the words to it)

Not trying to start a gun debate here, but among the stories of bad things happening with legally purchased firearms this year, this one is pretty low on the list.

I would say it's actually hugely important and should be called out. Accidental deaths by firearms, especially of children, is a big deal. 22 million children live in a household with guns, many unsecured and loaded, and at least 1,300 children die annually when they get their hands on them. 36x more children die this way than in school shootings, it absolutely deserves our attention.

Of course, but to me that's part of a larger philosophical question as to whether or not human beings are sufficiently advanced to responsibly wield firearms, which in my opinion is a big no.

I don't want to gun debate either. The vast, vast majority of license holders are highly law-abiding. "Legally purchased" is also separate from legally carrying. This isn't your typical news story. The guns I brought up (which oddly it seems no one in the comments knew about) weren't used in a crime, as they are in most stories. So, it's very "low" on the "news stories involving guns" list, in general. But I'll still call out what he did because it wasn't safe and the CCW community checks each other quite strictly. Not really setting out to establish a ranking.
