Our insurance system sucks in general, and sometimes they’ll deny certain meds entirely, but I have never had insurance give me a hard time about changing dosages of a medication.

Pharmacies also aren’t likely to give that information out over the phone without an rx on file. You’ll have to go in.

Can confirm. They typically don't like discussing their current narcotic inventory randomly over the phone. There's no wiggle room when the person shows up with a suspect script or general aura. Cold calling around for C-II's is going to result in plenty of false out of stock replies.

Did my time as a tech, too! If we knew the patient was reliable, we might call the nearby pharmacy for them, but otherwise forget it. You want answers about our stock, you need to come in with your script or have your doctor send it in, since they FINALLY have an electronic system for that now.
This isn't a city thing, this is a pharmacy thing. I worked in white-as-fuck suburbia and my bosses gave no fucks about affluence, money, or name dropping when it came to our narcotics inventory.

Yes! At least certain ones I know of. Super helpful with telehealth appointments and the pandemic. The chain pharmacy I go to will even transfer them between same chain locations, which was a lifesaver during the 2020 police riots and the assholes who took advantage of that confusion. I think there’s finally a central database now of these scripts, which helps.

Very cool. I saw the potential for it to reduce general fuckery from all sources way back when, but the system at that point was too buggy to give up on hand written hard copies all together.

this is wrong. adderall has ZERO methamphetamine. It DOES have amphetamine salts. Desoxyn is pharma methamphetamine hcl.

I've never tried Vyvanse, can anyone tell me about it? I don't even have a fkn actual shrink any more, I have to beg my GP! Shiiiiiit. Is it within this sub's rules for someone to compare Vyvanse with Adderall for me? I take 30mg 2x daily of dextro-amphetamine. My ADHD is horrible and I'm posting too much. Help please, just compare them and suggest equivalents. Thanks.

Vyvanse works well for me. It’s similar to a XR adderall but supposedly lasts longer. You would only have to take it once a day. I try to take it with a higher protein breakfast.

There is currently a nationwide shortage of adderall and similar drugs. You will have a much greater chance of finding your prescription outside the city limits. Try calling pharmacies outside the direct city part if you are willing to travel but you still may not have any luck. If not try talking to your doc/the pharmacist and see if you can switch to something that is stocked.
We’ve been dealing with this shortage for months now and it likely isn’t going to get better soon. You wouldn’t believe how many people call into the pharmacy asking the same question.

Try seeing if they have other sizes in stock, then ask your doctor to adjust your prescription to match. Like if you normally take 10mg and they have 5s or 20s in stock, ask your doctor to rewrite the script from "one 10mg pill" to "two 5mg pills" or "one-half a 20mg pill".
