The same view today, via Google Maps.

The first house on the row is now gone, but the rest are still there. Note the porch rooflines match up (three points in a row, then a long flat stretch, then another point), and the rowhouses further down that extend out more—all still visible present-day.

Between the 3rd and 4th house in, it looks like one of the original cornices remain.

I noticed that too—the fourth house is pretty well-preserved!

Old—but well-built. I can't imagine the new construction box houses looking as good 115 years from now.

Damn photos like this make me so thankful for birth control and family planning. Can't imagine my life as a woman even 70 years ago.

Did you notice that a lot of those kids are barefoot, with their feet in the gutter?

They still look pretty happy (look for the one sticking out his tongue!) but it's sobering to think of the lack of birth control, and the impending World War coming less than 10 years later.

It does make you wonder what happened to them in their lives.
