Anyone have recent experience getting their marriage license processed and returned to them by city of Philadelphia? We got married 10/8, submitted the completed license by mail on 10/11, have heard nothing back. It's been 7 weeks. Phone call to the marriage license office produced no info.

I'm just curious if we're looking at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, or what? I'm waiting on the license to start the bureaucratic thrill ride of changing my name, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get everything done, including my passport, before overseas travel in May 2023.

Reach out to your city councilperson and see if they can help you get in touch with the right folks.

I got married in April and got my license back after maybe 2-3 weeks?

That doesn't seem normal...

Do you have the tear off portion of your marriage license? That has your license number. Call marriage records and ask them to send you a notorized license. You can also pick them up in person. Important note: records is a different office than licenses.

Also, just because I went through this a few months ago, get more than one copy. That way of any of your changes need you to mail a physical copy, you have backups.

Side note: given the delay with the paperwork, I’d suggest changing the name after the trip. You should have enough time, if you start the process even early next year, but why add stress to the timeline?

I got married on 10/22 and I got it back I think like 2 weeks later. I feel like yours probably got lost in the mail somewhere.

Probably 2 weeks or under for me but I don't exactly remember.

I had to go pick mine up. It wasn’t mailed to me.
