North Philly got a big hole of chaos between fairmont and the northeast proper, if you want help be more specific, nobody on the Philly subreddit gives a shit about stealing your jeep, 90% of the people on this sub are NYC transplants who only ride bikes and are terrified of black people

Most of these kids that are jacking cars are under 20, If it’s got a stick they’re not going to be able to steal it

More often it's catalytic converters being stolen but soft top jeeps will get knifed open. Keep nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, in the vehicle and leave the glove box open when it's parked. Give zero reason to suspect that knifing your soft top will yield a prize inside.

I've driven my share of older, oddball cars in Philly. Keep the interior clutter free and have nothing valuable visible from the outside if you want your top unslashed.

I drive a classic daily. Insure it for an agreed-upon value for more than it’s worth and hope for the best. When I first got it, I got a car alarm put on, it fucked up my wiring so I hacked it out, and now I just keep my car clean, park it in gear, and hope for the best. I’ve thought about doing a kill switch but even those can be cut out in a couple minutes by experienced thieves.

The reality is… it’s an older car. Befriend all your local old heads, make friends with some of the hot rodders in the neighborhood, etc.

Hell, since glass can be hard to find, might even wanna consider leaving your doors unlocked.

No one cares about our shit as much as we care about our shit. If someone steals your old shit in this city, it’s probably an inside job (which is why you make good with everyone you can out here who shares similar hobbies).

Don't lock it. Keeps people from cutting soft top. Keep nothing in it. Pull the starter fuse. Your car will get broken into in really nice neighborhoods just as much as bad neighborhoods.

I drive a Miata, and I have definitely had people go through it, but never really bothered to steal it.

Shit like a club might slow thieves down too.

A removable steering wheel would help.
