This is fantastic. Now all that needs to happen is to tear down the abandoned former McDonald's/BP and the graffiti-covered, burned-out, boarded-up Checkers, convince the KFC to relocate, and built higher on the NE and NW corners, assuming councilmanic/womanic prerogative will allow that.
It is a crime against old (let alone "new") urbanism that Philadelphia runs a 4-track subway line that runs directly to Center City, the Sports Complex, and its largest university (Temple), as well as its de-facto public hospital (also Temple), with stations under drive through fast food restaurants and parking lots.
