I don't have an answer but I'm just curious if you're looking for candeling or something more medical-y?

Go to an ENT doctor. They will help you out. Candeling is not real.

I'm also interested in this and those other kinds of spa treatments that show up on ASMR videos.

I had an ear clog when I was in my early 20s and saw ear candeling at the PA Renfaire and after they were done I couldn’t hear anything at all for two weeks.

It happened again and I went to the Rite Aid minute clinic and they flushed it out and gave me some drops and I could hear better than I ever had in my life.

Yeah no. Lose your hearing at one of these fly by night places. Fuck that.

Literally just go to your doctor. They will flush it with saline or warm water and it will feel glorious and everything will sound like it’s in stereo after.

Minute clinic at CVS does it and it's reasonably cheap

Your eardrum is about as thick as a couple of tissues and is very easy to perforate. Please don't stick anything it or do something like candling. Go to your GP or an ENT to get it done. If you want to avoid the doctor, use Debrox and when you're in the shower, let the water run into your ear and drain it. This is my field.

No, just buy a set of curettes. The US is the most litigious about this shit, and forgets that a lot of people genetically have ear wax that needs to be tended to very regularly. 6 bucks off Amazon to change your life.

Uh no I was at Renfaire for the wine, food and to smoke cigarettes while riding on an elephant. Ear was a little clogged and I saw the candle thing thought the candling tent there so I gave it a shot . Made it way worse though would not recommend.

I don't think it's a very patient centric POV to eliminate relief options and stray away from optimizing them because of off chances like that. I think the high incidence rate of people pushing earwax further in using whatever tool is easily available helps prove that all you're doing is encouraging those with high buildup to get desperate.

I think it's more realistic to recommend, provide and optimize tools for self cleaning than pretend that most people are going to visit the doctor every time their ears are built up (which for some people like me is a weekly occurrence at a minimum).
