The current folks listed as running for City council at-large next year are:

Incumbents Isaiah Thomas and Katherine Gilmore Richardson and new runners Eryn Santamoor, Nina Ahmad, Michael Galvan, Terrill Haigler and Amanda McIllmurray.

I’ve read most of their websites and I have lots of thoughts about their causes. I can already see one of them not being very popular in the real estate community but just wanted to know if anyone had any as well.

I’d vote for Terrill “Ya Fav Trashman” Haigler

I’m just curious on what he has planned besides the whole trash clean up thing. Might see in the new year however

Philly desperately needs SOMEONE passionate about clean-ups, blight reduction, and beautification. Even if he's a single-issue guy, someone needs to push for it

I'm looking at them names and I'm seriously thinking of legally changing my name to Dallas Sucks and getting on the ballot.

Santamoor is the only one that would get my vote out of the new runners. I voted for her last time

I don't know much about Haigler.

The rest I would never vote for.

I thought Amanda McIllmurray was going to try and primary Squilla? I guess she thought better of that.

She said something about wanting to create policy on a larger scale. She’s claimed that she’ll be working to create fees for folks who flip homes, if that’s the she might’ve wanted to stay within a district lol

Yeah, she must have. Even considering running against an established, popular incumbent was a weird choice. It actually put a poor taste in my mouth, as someone in Squilla’s district. I see him all of the time and his office has helped me with a few different issues. The first time I heard of her is when she called me for a donation.

I have to do more research into the other candidates but rn Terrill Haigler has my vote. For these reasons

  1. Cleaner streets is a good, achievable goal
  2. He isn't coming up through the political machine, so he probably isn't corrupt
  3. He's mentioned that his campaign won't just be about trash, and someone that passionate about the city probably has other good ideas
