A coworker of mine said it might snow a lot on Friday so I took a peak when I got home. It looks like Friday is rainy but warms up to nearly 60 before suddenly dripping to the low 20s and windy within a 10 hour period.

Sounds like a horrific icy mess just in time for everyone’s holiday travel!

It feels like we usually have at least one snowfall by this time of year, even if nothing that sticks.

Instead we've had repeated HEAVY rainstorms - if any one of those had been snowstorms it would have been an epic amount of snow. Thurs/Friday's storm looks like the same thing again, lots of rain but well above freezing. And then it's going to get SUPER cold for multiple days after that. Anyplace with uncleared drains is going to be a skating rink.

I've been purposefully ignoring this because I'm planning to fly on Sunday; no sense worrying about a thing I have no control of for longer than needed.

The chance of snow on Friday comes only on the tail of the warm front passing through. When we get air moving over from the south or southwest, it’s typically very warm and moist, and given our current cold conditions, this will provide us with mostly rain starting midday Thursday and persisting until noon on Friday.

Behind this warm front is seasonally colder air, so as that cold air seeps back in the rain could change over to snow for an hour or so. At most we’re looking at maybe an inch, two inches can’t be ruled out to the north and west of the city.

The more dangerous aspect to f all this precipitation will be black ice conditions on the roads in the evening.

Saw on the news tonight that the high will be mid-to-upper 50’s but it’s going to be intense wind and the temp could drop as much as 20 degrees during the day, windchills super low.

I don't have co-workers whom I trust enough when it comes to weather forecast, but I rely on forecast.io, which is more accurate in my experience.

Snow or not, Friday night looks like a mess with snow/rain during the day and a rapid temperature decline in a matter of hours.

Stay frosty, y'all.

Good call.

Over the years I've found that a lot of weather forecasts are not particularly accurate (especially for real time, especially the one on iOS, which is being replaced next year or so by the one I linked above), and a lot of TV weather people keep hyping it up to the point where you want to run to get bread and milk every time their face comes on.

I'm 35 weeks pregnant. Today my doc told me if my blood test comes back positive for a liver issue, they will move my scheduled January 18th delivery up. They didn't say when they will move it. I do. Not. Want. It. This. Weekend. My daughter was born in a 102 degree heatwave in July. I don't want a Christmas cold-snap blizzard baby to go along with that! And I don't want to spend my holiday in the hospital! This batshit weather can kick rocks!
