I'm really getting annoyed with the girl who lives in the unit below me, who started a "dogsitting" business where she just takes random people's dogs, brings them into her apartment, and then fucks off all day leaving the dog to whine, cry, and bark nonstop for hours and hours and hours and hours. This current pooch has been wailing nonstop since 6:30am and sounds like it's being gutted alive while crows pick at its innards. My noise-canceling headphones work fine but....wtf, just take care of the dog.

Sad about Ken Block. SO and I would watch his gymkhana videos together.

Ugh, work. Ugh, foggy moist weather. What a day.

I'd be livid if I paid someone to take care of my dog for the day and they left it alone and distressed in a strange place all day. Is there any way to post a review or do something to let clients know how this 'business' is being run?

She's not like, legit legit. Just a girl in a rented apartment (which has a dog size restriction/pet fee) taking in dogs. There's no website or anything. Occasionally a post on NextDoor.

I'm never good in these situations. I'm debating leaving a note, or just waiting until she shows up and talking to her in person. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and they don't know the dog is noisy but....don't leave other people's dogs unattended for 9 hours a day?

Can you hit up the landlord? I'm not good with this stuff either, and usually wouldn't think to immediately go over someone's head, but what she's doing is pretty fucked up so I think it's fair to skip the face to face conversation...although it probably won't hurt and would be the more neighborly way to go about it.

I could and should do that but...we've already complained to our landlords about a dog before lol. Before this girl moved into the unit below us, there was a girl who lived there who also had a dog and would leave the dog alone from 6:30pm until 8:00am the next morning (she was a night nurse) and that dog would also scream, wail, bark, howl, and cry, for every single second its owner was gone. It was an incredibly anxious dog with mental problems that really needed a yard and some kids, not hours cooped up in an apartment. She eventually did something to the dog to get it to stop when she went to work, but it took at least 3 months.

So I'm worried about annoying our landlords and....I don't know, trying to push us out if we become a nuisance. I'll go the neighborly route and do face-to-face first and hope that sorts it out.

Hope the conversation does the trick, but if not I wouldn't worry about annoying your landlord unless they're some kind of mega-asshole. You staying and paying the rent should be way more important to them than fielding a couple complaints.
