This was THE soundtrack of my whole adolescent life! This is giving Preston Marilyn & Steve era, if not earlier. I won a call in impersonation contest when I was 15 and lied about my age and the unavailability of my ID to redeem my prize… good old days ha

I was listening live as the station changed over and thought it was a glitch or a new after hours hip hop programming they tried, alas…

I followed Preston & Steve to MMR but one day I just couldn’t take Steve’s constant interrupting everyone & soundboarding over people and it felt like the convos were more boring and the schtick felt rehearsed. But I’ll always have a soft spot for the old days!

I kept y100 on my presents for probably a year, and would check back every couple weeks to see if it was just a mistake and they had gone back to the programming I grew up with. I also tried following the crew to MMR but the music selection wasn’t my thing and Steve got really annoying.

My claim to fame was poking Preston in the head with a giant foam finger while he was presenting a prize at a wings lacrosse game on the Jumbotron. I didn’t make the screen but my giant foam finger did. Also got a fantastic “are you fucking kidding me” look from Preston.

I listened as they played “Alive” by Pearl Jam as their last song. Then just silence for a while afterwards. It was weird and kinda haunting.

I kept checking that station too for like a year. My entire high school was like in mourning that day that it changed.

I really did not like WMMR. So I just did q102 and pst.
