The Small Biz Thursday thread is dead. Long Live the Do Attend Thursday Thread!

This weekly thread is a place to share what's happening in and around Philly this weekend.

This is also a place to share or promote small businesses, and local art or music. This is not a marketplace.

This weekly post will provide a space for the community to share these things without flooding the front page. We will be directing relevant traffic to this post and removing top-level posts that would fall under the categories above.

The Philly Discord (aka PhilaDiscordia) and /r/phillymeetups have a few weekly events that /r/philadelphia are invited to!

  • Tuesdays at 7PM - Board Game Night @ Thirsty Dice
  • Thursdays at 6PM - Happy Hour (various locations)

Join the discord to learn more and see a full list of events. r/philadelphia is not responsible for the content of the discord.

Orchestra Society of Philadelphia is doing a reading of Act 3 of Tristan and Isolde on 1/13 (next Friday), all string players welcome! Had to postpone this Friday’s rehearsal due to a flooding problem at the rehearsal space, unfortunately.

For our winds we generally are a pretty set group and usually are audition/invitation, but I do know that they cycle through subs pretty regularly. Strings tend to always be in need of numbers, hence why it’s open invitation for them. I absolutely think it’s worth reaching out via email to ask. I can DM you who to contact if interested. I don’t know if other reading orchestras, but there’s a healthy number of community orchestras in the surrounding suburbs.
