I did this morning actually, they were all very nice and assured me it would all be taken care of! I guess it’s just the idea of someone doing this that makes me so upset lol
Exactly, there’s no way a CC company is going to let this fly if it’s a common occurrence.
The "owner" is poetictattooskilo on Instagram. According to yelp they've been doing this for over 3 years. Insane they haven't been caught.
Edit: Goes by the name Kilo Abrams.
Other "artists" most likely involved in this theft ring are tagged on the shops main page: poetictattoos_philly
Fortunately for me I know who took my wallet in the theater, so I was able to provide exactly what he looks like in my report, but it is absolutely crazy that this has been going on so long with no intervention from authorities.
Tell us how your wallet was stolen? Pickpocket, person sitting behind you, or what?
So my bf and I were walking into the theater when we noticed a guy behind us. My bf is very friendly and so he held the door for the man, who thanked us and walked into the theater. He then turned around and pointed to the concession stand and told us to go in front of him, since we technically would've been anyways if we didn't hold the door. We thanked him and did so. I'm pretty sure he pickpocketed me while my back was turned buying food. Asshole. I feel so stupid about it now, but my guard was down after a long week and I was excited to see the movie.
Report fraud to your credit card company ASAP as possible.
The Yelp review of the place in Philly goes all the way back to 2019 with a similar story (and the place is said to be out of business).
I just wanted to comment and say that rittenhouse antichrist is the funniest thing i've read on this accursed website.
Did you try asking theater for surveillance footage? Maybe they caught them in the act?
I actually asked the cop how to go about this when I was giving my report, he said that the investigator assigned to the case would contact the theater. I guess that remains to be seen but I really hope they take this seriously because it seems like this tattoo shop has been scamming people for three years.

My bf opened the door for a man that was walking slowly behind us. He thanked us and went into the theater. We followed. He turned around and pointed to the concession line and offered for us to go first since we technically would've been in front of him anyways. We said sure and thanked him... I'm pretty sure while I was looking at the candy he swiped my wallet from my purse while I wasn't looking. I would say just be extra aware of your surroundings and purse.
Second that! Was it a pickpocket operation? Was it at the Regal? I've been there a few times and never faced shady situations ot tight crowds where pickpockets operate
Well based off the fact that other reviews for the tattoo shop are saying they had their wallets stolen from other theaters, I definitely think it was a pickpocket operation. Unfortunately it was the Regal in KOP. We just moved to the area and were really excited to explore and see Avatar after a really hard week.
Damn! Maybe at the line for the popcorn and drinks? Thats the only place I regularly see crowded lines and even there it doesn't resemble a real crowded place. Other possibility would be if they squeeze into their seats when people are already seated; i always keep my wallet in me front pocket. Anyway, thanks for warning everybody and lets hope these assholes are nabbed soon!
Yeah, I think it was the concession’s line… only place someone was close enough to try and do it. It sucks, but hopefully other people will see this and be more aware.

Happened to me once in Chicago. A guy snuck into the row behind me (I was a few rows from the very back) and was going through my coat pockets. I happened to feel it and catch him in the act. I flipped out and he ran out of the theater.
would've loved to see your reaction
Honestly, I was confused/shocked at first. He realized I noticed and quickly jumped back. I think I just stood up and loudly said "YOU MOTHERFUCKER" and he took off. Luckily he didn't get anything.
I know it's not funny, but reading this made me snort. I'm glad he didn't get anything!

Call your credit card company and tell them what happened. It sucks and is inconvenient but you shouldn't lose any money from the credit card fraud part.
