I'm looking for something to do after work/in my free time that's collaborative. I'm not looking for a start-up or to build a commercial product for someone. Ideally I'd love to do something open source or that's designed to help the community. The reason I'm posting here is I want something local, and preferably that meets IRL. If you or anyone you know is looking for someone to join their group project, feel free to reach out!

In this brief (okay, hour and a half) session, we'll go over the basics of Code for Philly, civic tech, and how to get involved in the Code for Philly community and in projects. You'll also have a chance to meet others in the community!

Check out Code for Philly. I think they’re back to doing IRL meetups now. Events are on meetup.com and they also have a slack group.

Tell me you are just starting out in the industry without telling me you are just starting out in the industry.

Also - if you are good at something, never do it for free; but you do you, fam.

Alternatively maybe, just maybe, I'd like to meet people outside of work who are passionate, hard working, and like building interesting things. Also what if, as an abstract hypothetical, I actually want to give back to my community???? And in that strange and nearly unimaginable reality, what if I think that it would be cool to use the skills I have to this aim.

Yeah really shit take my dude. I’m 15 years in the industry and clicked through to the comments curious what I’d find. Charity is not stupid.

Been a dev for 10 years, worked at 3 of the 5 faangs. I still contribute to codeforphilly and open source stuff. Most of the best devs do.
