I am going insane if someone says megapixels on phones do not matter. Like we can actually read the details on the packaging here. I assume you have a 20 to 50 mp camera on your phone?
Brewe t1_j9po2q8 wrote
It's 4800x3600, so 17 MP.
Also, who says megapixels don't matter? Of course they matter, but for a normal image for a normal purpose, it doesn't matter whether you have 10, 20 or 50 MP.
BWanon97 t1_j9ptlyt wrote
They used to say it was no problem when many flagship phones went from 20 or 16 mp to 12mp. But anything beyond 5 meters is noticably less detailed with 12mp relative to 20mp and beyond.
Brewe t1_j9px6a7 wrote
Phone cameras didn't get worse when they went from 20 to 16 MP. You'll have more detail in a picture from a good 16 MP lens, than you'll have in a picture from a shitty 20 MP lens. And the fact is that before they started chilling with the MPs in phone cameras, all they used as a selling point was MP, which meant that that's the only feature they truly focused on, and the results were honestly shit.

You’re right! It’s so clear. My iPhone 11 pro max pics don’t look that good.
RightClickSaveWorld t1_j9pnmeu wrote
The image says 4800x3600, so that's 17.3 megapixels. All those phones that say 50MP or 100MP, they actually don't actually matter or mean much. You kind of disproved your point. Unless someone was writing off phones above 12MP or something, and even then this pictures is a bad example of that.

I went from 20 (sony xperia) to 12 (s10) which was a huge difference in detail. Could read license plates from 30 meters away on the 20 mp pictures.
RightClickSaveWorld t1_j9pzshf wrote
That's what I was saying 12MP to 20MP is a big jump, but above that is just fudged numbers and not the actual detail that the phone can produce? And What was the context of someone saying megapixels don't matter?
RightClickSaveWorld t1_j9q4ja9 wrote
Also, did you try lowering the Xperia picture to 12MP to see if it is still readable. Because that would drive the point home more if it is no longer readable.

108 MP, Samsung S21 ultra. I had to resize the photo because it would not upload the original. (27.50MB, 12000 x 9000)

Pretty sure ppl say mp on phones dont matter because they can use the software to stich a composite of multiple images into a better quality image.

Ok my guy, you are very lucky. In AU, that lean meat alone would cost $20-$30. Inflation is out of control here.

That meat is pork fillet and it was 9 euros/kg. Prices increase here as well, we only buy meat when there are discounts.
