Was the proprietor even supposed to be there that day?

No it isn't, it says all the movies are available for sale for a buck or two.

You’re correct on the sign but they called themselves a rental store and had other shelves for rent. She really didn’t like me taking picture so I just took the one, bought my water and left.

This looks just like the rental wall of the convenience store where my dad lived in the 90s. Probably a small town with nothing else to do.

I looked up VCRs on Amazon for fun and they're like $400 - 600. Wow.

parents bought one for 200 to look at old family films a couple years back, had to go to 3 different thrift stores before if ound one for $8. It was well worth the hour of my time.

I’m sitting on a gold mine. I have 4 VCRs in my basement. They haven’t been used in years but as my family upgrade from a VCR to DVD then now nothing but streaming I kept the old ones and just put them away for whatever reason.

You piqued my curiosity so I googled what the last movie released on VHS was. It was “a history of violence”.
