There are criminal empires that use construction companies as a front. It'd make sense for hitmen to dump bodies in an active excavation site.

I’m curious to know how many bodies there are in building foundations across the globe

We build alot on drilled pier foundations around here. Dumping a body down a 24" dia hole going down to bedrock, which you're about to fill with concrete, seems pretty foolproof

Looks like you were right... It was a skeleton from the middle ages found in Piazzetta San Michele (Volterra, Pisa) Italy, ~7 years ago:

(Google Translated Italian ->English): Meanwhile, the skeleton has been removed and prepared for restoration and placement in some deposit for possible further study. The havoc committed a few years ago by some more or less high-level managers who in the construction site of Piazzetta San Michele, despite the evidence, preferred to go on with their work without informing any competent authority of the presence of an ancient skeleton in the place remains where works for the underground services were carried out.

Not necessarily if the hole for the 2 pipes was dug to only house the 2 pipes the legs and torso would not have been shown, and any tool used to dig the trench would only have shown parts of bone at the sides (since the middle has been scouped out)

And the paradox is:

The one who laid the pipe is the one who's pictured.
