We honestly don't know exactly the origin of it. But we know people used to wear 2000yrs+ for the Himyarites and Sabeans before them (especially worn by Herders and farmers). The people in Yemen are proud of their culture, even in the architecture. Check out قمرية (Qamariya), people still use it in decorations until this day! :)
